Hollis Flanagan – President
After serving in the US Army as a helicopter crew chief, Hollis began working in the utility locating industry in 1982 for Central Locating Service. As a utility locator, his responsibilities included locating Utility One-Call tickets for telephone, gas and electric facilities in the Long Island, NY area. Quickly, Hollis earned a reputation as a “go to guy”, who could be called on by his supervisors to handle the difficult jobs that others in the company simply couldn’t handle. Frequently, he was asked to fly to other states to help “put out fires” and he was instrumental in saving utility locating contracts.
Hollis has worked for quite a few of the contract locating companies over the years as both a utility locator and a field supervisor. He also did a stint as the lead locator for Chop Tank Electric (utility company) in Maryland.
Hollis started Consumer Markouts with his childhood friend Todd Cogan in 1994 in order to help contractors with the many private/consumer owned utilities that were not being marked out prior to excavation by the One-Call locators.
